Description
Adapted from James Morrison’s version of the classic hymn, this a great unaccompanied trombone quartet in a gospel blues style.
Starting with a chorale, this arrangement features a jazz solo in the middle which can either be a transcription of James’ solo on Snappy Doo, or an improvised blues solo. The bass bone has some tasty lines and can drive the style with gutsy playing, and the lead bone part can sing on the top notes, with optional top F’s throughout. Overall, this arrangement is as hard as you want to make it. For those trombonists with limited range, feel free to improvise the lead line if the F’s are too high.
